Carl Wark and Higger Tor

Carl Wark and Higger Tor are two rocky outcrops, prominent on the skyline to your right as you drop down from the Fox House Inn towards Hathersage. Two views, at different times of year.

Carl Wark is topped by the remains of an Iron Age hill fort, part of the walls of which can still be clearly seen.
The views from the high points take the eye across to the hills surrounding the Hope valley.
In the centre of the left hand picture can be seen the huge gash in the side of Mam Tor near Castleton, at the head of the Hope Valley.
