Castleton

This village is set right in the heart of the Peak District and is at the junction of the two great geological areas - the White and Dark Peak. These are the areas dominated by limestone and gritstone geology respectively.

The small green in the heart of the village, at the foot of the castle hill, is an excellent place to sit and quietly enjoy an ice cream or try to decide which of the quaint little tea shops to try.

Castleton is famous for its castle, perched on a small hill above the village.
