Lathkill and Bradford Dales

Lathkill Dale runs from near Monyash through to Alport. The water is usually crystal clear having been filtered on its passage through limestone. The river has been managed for generations by forming fish pools created by wiers at regular intervals. The valley is a haven for wildlife both on and in the river and in the woodland and fields forming the valley sides.
Bradford Dale runs up from Alport to pass below Youlgreave and Middleton-by-Youlgreave. Different in character from Lathkill Dale, it is equally as beautiful and tranquil. The waterfoul abound in the river and it's a joy to see their young thriving in the Spring time.
