Edale

Edale is perhaps best know as the starting or finishing point of the Pennine Way long distance walk. The valley starts at the foot of Kinder Scout and curves round to join Hope Valley at Hope, emerging between the peaks of Lose Hill and Win Hill.
These pictures were taken on the 3rd March 2001 after a late winter snowfall had covered the hills. The peak with the shaley cliffs is Back Tor, half way along the Lose Hill/Mam Tor ridge, Lose Hill being the more rounded peak to the left.

I don't do much winter cycling but it was good to see this group of cyclists enjoying the late winter sunshine promising the warmer days of Spring.

The right hand of these two pictures gives the contrast with the pictures above, taken during an earlier summer.
