Bretton Clough

This is one of the lesser known gems of the Peak District. On the road from Hathersage to Grindleford there is a minor road on the right that goes up to Abney. This road runs to the right of Bretton Clough. A walk up this little valley is a delight, especially in the warmer months.

This footbridge marks an intersection of several paths about half way up the valley.

Bluebells abound on these hillsides and in the woodland in Spring.

The hamlet of Abney nestles in a hollow on the hillside above the valley.
